"There are many players of fiddle music in Canada, and it takes quite a performance for one to stand out from the next. Jess is that kind of performer. She plays with her heart and brings audiences everything from passion and style, to trick fiddling that I wouldn't even dare try. You'll never have more fun watching and hearing a fiddler play than you do at her shows. She is one of the best performers I've had the privilege to appear on stage with, and I can't wait till our next chance to do the same."
- Ashley MacIsaac
"As the son of a great Cape Breton fiddler, I can say with great confidence, that you are one of the best young fiddlers in Canada."
- Sandy Gillis, Comedian (CBC Radio)
"Wedden may be one of the next generation of upcoming Natalie MacMasters."
-Celtic Life Magazine International
"Jess puts on a lively, entertaining and professional performance for people of all ages. She is without a doubt a Small Halls festival favourite!"
- Kelly Symes, Ontario Festival of Small Halls
Jess Wedden is a Canadian fiddler, singer, songwriter, finger-style guitarist and step dancer, who draws from her Celtic and folk roots to write thoughtful lyrics and fiddle tunes that flow out of her so naturally, that they're easily mistaken as being age-old traditional tunes. Her effortless smile and energetic stage presence reflects her exceptional passion, drive, and performing experience of 10 years, belying her young age. Her CD, Fiddling Is My Passion, recorded at 12 years old, earned her national recognition as a 2016 Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, and was nominated again in 2018 for one of her most modern compositions, One More Time. Jess was also recognized as a semi-finalist in the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition, and has been continually refining and developing her extensive combination of musical capabilities. It's no surprise she received a standing ovation opening for Ashley MacIsaac at the Festival of Small Halls Ontario, and in addition to her own performances, has been hired as a touring member for Jessica Pearson and the East Wind and "one of Canada's most revered folk poets and singers”, David Francey.
